Cursor is the default when a team is already productive in an AI-native editor and switching cost is high. Devin Desktop is the alternate. That is the IDE formerly called Windsurf.
Cognition’s Devin Desktop FAQ says that on 2 June 2026 Windsurf became Devin Desktop: the same editor, under the Devin name. The local agent is Devin Local. The Desktop changelog for release 3.10.23 says Cascade has been removed and Devin Local is the only agent in Devin Desktop. This page keeps the windsurf-vs-cursor URL.
